New Topograhics

An issue first broached by the likes of Robert Adams, Stephen Shore and others, New Topographics focused on man altered landscapes. Few places on the planet demonstrate that impact more fervently than Japan. A lack of meaningful city planning and ease of compartmentalization allows for a more narrowed considerations regarding environmental impact. Surprising for a culture so steeped in the practices of tailored temple gardens and carefully framed views meant to maximize one’s experience with these representations of ‘nature’.
